Cultivation
The district of Haslach, on the outskirt area of Bolzano, is where the major parts of our vineyards are found. Vines grow on an strong morainal soil overlaid with porphyric deposits. A location that creates wines with strong minerality and powerful tannin.Only in the last few years we started planting vines on the floodplain of Grutzen, in the South of Bolzano. Due to alluvial deposits from the Eisack river, the soil is warm and dry and allows the production of utterly fruity white and red wines.
The Hartl estate is located on the southern slope of the Ritten Mountain, at 800m above sea level. Thence we gain a small but exquisite amount of Sauvignon grapes, that give a racy and durable Sauvignon, which is also mineralic and very graceful.
We highly value environmentally friendly work in the vineyards, without wanting to put the harvest at risk. That means: No herbicides or insecticides and hardly any fungicides. Every two years we carry out an alternating soil-cultivation after which we sow soil-improving sowings. This allows an improvement in soil fertility and strengthens the vines' roots.
